Regulation
PGMER 2023 and the digital eLogBook requirement
Updated 19 August 2026
Direct answer: under the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2023, postgraduate and super-speciality residents from the 2023 batch onward must maintain a dynamic digital eLogBook, updated weekly, and verified by their guide or Head of Department every month.
What PGMER 2023 asks residents to document
- Academic activities — seminars, journal clubs, case presentations
- Clinical cases and patient histories
- Procedural and diagnostic skills, specialty-wise
- Skill lab training
- Teaching experience, including supervision of interns and UG students
- Research and thesis work
- Periodic assessments and appraisals
The faculty verification requirement
The regulation places equal weight on faculty validation — a logbook isn't considered complete until a guide has reviewed and signed off on it monthly. NMC eLogBook's faculty portal is built around exactly that review cycle, with a dashboard that flags entries still pending verification.
